The site of this House lies at the edge of one of Bahrain´s most private and secluded residential areas, at the center of one of Hamala garden districts. The house is a poetic commentary on modern architecture, above all on local modernism interpretation, starting from a contemporary re-reading of the building materials and techniques.
The floorplan is structured by a ground floor volume, a suspended volume and a deck with an outdoor pool. The box of concrete and wood on ground, houses the main living spaces, the kitchen, a guest room, the common and office areas and the garage.
The vertical brakes filter the light and can hide either technical equipment, wardrobes or privacy areas for the toilets, diluting the relationship between the internal and the external. The upper volume propped on the ground-floor volume, on one side, and on pilotis on the other; accommodates the family room and bedrooms. This upper box creates a shady area and over the ground-floor prism, an extension of the living room becomes the solarium.
An outdoor staircase connects the entry hall to the upper family area. An indoor staircase forms the daily circulation of the house. Near the main circulation, in the foyer of the house, an bulk panel was especially designed for added privacy.
